Blog: Riding for a Cause - Hexigone Joins BCF's Annual Charity Cycle
Hexigone was delighted to have taken part in the British Coatings Federation's (BCF) Charity Cycle: Ride Warwickshire 2023. We were proud to contribute to the joint £10k goal and raise funds for The Community HeartBeat Charity Trust (CHT).
CHT is an organization that provides and funds community defibrillators to improve cardiac arrest survival rates. Death from Cardiac Arrest if untreated is about 97% of cases. However, with prompt and proper treatment, including timely use of a defibrillator, the chance of survival can increase to around 70%. This relies on quick action, effective CPR (chest compressions), and the availability of a defibrillator. We believe that everyone should have access to life-saving equipment, and we are committed to raising awareness about this matter.
Last year, our team members participated in a first aid training program that included hands-on training in using defibrillators. The training emphasized the importance of quick action in the event of a cardiac arrest and the use of defibrillators as a life-saving tool. Our team members were well-equipped to appreciate the value of the Community HeartBeat Charity Trust's efforts in providing defibrillators to communities. We were proud to have put our training into practice by supporting this important cause.
Our team members, Dr. Patrick Dodds, Dr. Catherine Friar, Ella Newington, and Natalia Kosinska, participated in this exciting event by cycling a 35 km long route through Warwickshire. We were joined by Linda Liu from Chemetall and her partner, Mike – who set the pace and joined in with our positive, fun morale throughout the day.
We are lucky to say that we got through the day with no punctures or obstacles and we successfully made it to the finish line of the challenging route. Despite achy legs, the team has already set the target for themselves to join BCF again for the 50 km long route next year.
We invite everyone to join us in supporting this worthy cause by making a donation today. Every donation, no matter how small, can make a big difference in saving someone's life. We are grateful for the generosity and support we have already received. Thank you for being a part of our journey!
